The Historic Carp Airport
The Carp airport was built during World War 2 as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Known as “The Aerodrome of Democracy”, airfields such as Carp saw the training of thousands of aircrew and maintenance personnel who would later see action overseas.
Carp is relatively unique in that it still retains it’s distinctive triangular formation of runways. This can be seen when flying overhead the airport. Combined with the fact that the rural landscape has also changed little since WW2, a flight over the area in our 1930’s Biplane can transport you back in time to the swashbuckling spirit of the early Barnstormers!
